Linear position sensors measure, via a proportional electrical output, a physical position. They are used to provide feedback (data) for position measuring or automation control systems. Proheat provides to types of sensing technologies: Linear Potentiometers, and Magnetostrictive.
Linear Potentiometers , also known as "Pots", employ a resistive trace and contact wiper that provides an output based on the wipers position along the trace. The following Product Series use this technology: LT, PC, PK, PA1, PY1-3, PZ12, PZ34, PMA12, PME12, PMI12, and IC Series.
Magnetostrictive technology uses a non-contact technology based on magnetic principles. Since there is no physical contact between the cursor and the measuring track, this technology has a theoretical unlimited lifetime. The non-contact technology not only provides high resolution and superior reliability, but an array of choices for signal outputs. The following Product Series use this technology: MK, and IK.
